Great customer service! Sophie was so helpful during the snowstorm with freezing pipes and even getting a car unstuck. It was reassuring to know someone was there to help! Especially when they were as kind and helpful as she was.
I recently had an amazing experience with Gigi from the office! She was kind, professional and very informative. She made sure to answer all my questions and I could see her smile through the phone!! She made a welcoming impression!
Great space for a pretty good price compared to other places to live in Boone. Each of my roommate’s gets their own closet, bathroom, and nice sized rooms, along with a modern kitchen and living room. Even when living with random roommates, the space worked perfectly for all of us to have our own living area. The clubhouse and gym are great to have, as well as garbage pickup most days of the week. Living here has been a luxury! Highly recommend
Been living here for almost a year now. Love this place and my little duplex and all my roomates. Everyone in the office is so nice. Gigi and Sophie are great workers
This is a great place to live the college lifestyle. Sollei and the other staff members have always been helpful with anything I needed.
The cottages of boone is definitely a fun place to live with some great views and good amenities. The apartments are in good shape and the staff does a fairly good job.
As with all college apartments. They have much to be desired. I will say that the management at this community has been the most unreasonable of all that I have dealt with. My son signed his lease renewal at the rate of $839.00 got confirmation of rate and renewal email and then after that rate was no longer going to be honored received an email that the renewal was incomplete and the new rate would be 1090.00 per month. They did not reach out to let us know that the renewal was incomplete. Very shady. A fair price for what you get at most should be about 700 a month. I have 4 children in different colleges and this housing is the most expensive and def not worth the cost. Yes i reached out many times to management and they said too bad nothing we can do. We cant change the rate once it has passed. Again unreasonable. The least they could have done was reach out to say We see you have signed the renewal but there are still things that need to be completed. Nothing until its too late and you get the additional rent increase of over 250 dollars a month. If they work with you thats one thing but they dont work with you at all. When my son moved in he had to rent a steam cleaner as well as his roomates. The carpets were stained . Management response, well at least you wont be charged for stains when you move out????? What???The apartment was never cleaned yet we were still charged a cleaning fee. Management admitted only a small percentage were able to be cleaned. The floors were black the bathroom and kitchen disgusting. Again NOTHING cleaned yet had to pay a cleaning fee. The toilets were clogged the kitchen sink was clogged so they were unable to use dishwasher or kitchen sink for over a month. Very disappointed in the handling of the property and policies.
I have lived at the Cottages of Boone for over 2 years now, and in that time the quality has gone down and the price has gone up. I’d urge anyone looking for housing in Boone to look elsewhere, because tenants speed through the property dangerously fast, the property is littered with garbage, management is very slow about get anything done, and they're dumping untreated wastewater into Watauga County's water.
Many of the people who live here drive much faster than the posted 10mph, and come screaming around corners with short sight lines. On top of that, the roads are lined with parked cars on both sides, further limiting drivers’ and pedestrians’ sight. This is particularly frightening if you’re trying to cross the street anywhere in the Cottages. Many drivers will blow past stop signs. Besides the occasional text sent out to residents warning them about speeding (and deputizing residents to report speeders), little ever seems to be done about the speeding problem. There are no speed bumps to slow down drivers.
Even before they let their contract with a trash collector lapse, the Cottages has always been unacceptably covered in trash. Broken glass will stay on the sidewalk for months. There’s a dumpster taking up parking spaces that’s only supposed to be in place temporarily during move in, and it’s been there for 2 months. Some tenants will allow their front steps to become littered with beer cans. The recycling area has been blocked off with piles of trash bins. There’s a rug in a handicapped space.
The most frustrating part about living at the Cottages of Boone is that management is extremely slow about getting anything done. This has infected just about every aspect of the Cottages. One of my roommates still hasn’t been given keys to our front door; It’s been 2 months. There are grills in a common area that have been broken for over a year. There are windows missing from the bus stop. The pool has been closed for months, and looks dirty and unkempt. Due to staffing shortages, maintenance requests can take weeks to be completed.
One of the most distressing things about the Cottages that I've learned of recently is the unbelievable amount of waste water they're dumping into the Laurel Fork Creek. We're talking 10,000s of gallons of sewage into what used to be clean water. It's disgusting and awful.
There are a slew of other issues, too. The build quality of my house is nothing special. It’s functional, but it’s evident that the house was built quickly and has been thoroughly used. One of our counters bows pretty noticeably. Our floors are incredibly creaky. The porch is in rough looking shape. There are what look like black paint marks on the side of our house.
The Cottages do have some redeeming qualities: The internet is very fast and I value being able to just walk out of my house and go on a run. However, these silver linings don’t outweigh the numerous problems you’ll have to deal with living here.
Do not live here.
